Deploying CU1 to new clients RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • With CU1 do you need to specify the hotfix in the client installations properties for PATCH=<path>?  If you do specify it here, do you need to include the path to both x86 and x64 hotfixes?

What is the recommended way to deploy CU1 to new clients?

  • There is nothing critical in CU1 that needs to be there at deployment time so the best method is to use the SCUP catalog or deploy it using Software Distribution.

  • I used this link to install CU1 to the client: http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/08/23/managing-configmgr-client-patching-using-the-new-cumulative-updates-servicing-model-and-adr/

SCUP infrastructure should be configured properly (GPO for domain clients, local policies for workgroup clients, certificates).

Keep in mind Microsoft specifically says the CU should be install if you are experiencing the issues described in KB.
