Is there a way to add Edit item" to the menu of the task section in project center 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Users go into their Tasks web part and I see an option to create a new task but, they cannot directly edit the existing tasks that are listed. They are forced to edit the tasks by clicking on another link that says "This project can only be edited through Project Web App. Edit project." Isn't there a way for them to get directly to the Task Form and edit it?

  • Hi Ron,

The way it works is that it must be done in the project plan, either in PWA (schedule page from the project center) or in MS Project Pro. It cannot be done directly in the task list. Indeed the task creation/edition must be authorized (or not) based on the permissions the user has. Moreover if it would be allowed, it would cause a desynchronization between the task list and the project plan, this is why the task list is read only.

    Hope this helps,
