  • Hi Project Help,

You should not delete any default column from the risks/issues/deliverables lists. This could cause (as per you experience it) sync issue as Paul mentionned it.

You can refer to Paul's excellent article:

    http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2011/06/20/project-server-2010-project-site-default-fields/

    Hope this helps,

  • Ahh ok, just recreating those columns wont work. You will need to recreate the list by deleting it (backup any list items as they will need to be re-created, then disabling and re-enabling the Project Site Collaboration Lists feature - this will create a fully working Risk list. The process is documented here:

    http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2011/06/20/project-server-2010-project-site-default-fields/

If it is only the Risks list with the issue, just delete that one list if (if you want to resolve the issue). Fully test on a test project site first!

  • Yes of course.

Just go to the list settings and edit the view. Then you can uncheck any of the columns.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hello,

I think the changing dates and the error you report are a coincidence as the above error is only part of the Reporting publish job and not related to the project schedule itself. The error looks like you have customised the Risks lists on the associated Project Site and possibly removed or edited one the default columns on the Risk lists - now it is no longer able to sync the data to the Project Server reporting database. Has the Risks list configuration been edited on the Project Site? The URL logs might give you the name of the column that is causing the sync issues.

  • The Risks list configuration was edited.  I removed, then added back in: Owner, Due Date, and Cost.

  • Is there any way that as an Admin I can set up alert that will give PM's warning notto delete or are you sure you want to delete these coloums?

  • Hi Project Help,

I don't think you can do that easily, unless you develop a complex routine.

A solution would be to define custom permissions for PM specifying that they just can add or remove lits items but not change the list configuration.

I'd suggest to address this concern through training and coaching.
