ATI Radeon x600 incorrect memory reading. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just bought a newer Dell machine it is a 3.4Ghz P4 Prescott, 1gig of memory and a Radeon x600 256 meg memory.

What I ran into is it is only reading 128meg of memory both with Operating System utilitiy and ATI Control Center. I do not know if it the operating system limitation or driver limitation. I am using the ltest driver from ATI.

The DXdiag reads 1028 meg of memory for graphic card to add fuel to the issue.

I am also curious is the operating system using the ful 256meg of memory regardless what any software says?

  • Same issue here with a Radeon x300/x500 128 meg video card.  Vista is only recognizing 32 megs of video ram.  Vista Beta 2 Build 5834.

  • The machine is a stock Dell 5150/E510 3.4ghz, 1gig memory and the ATI Radeon x600 256meg video card.

The service tag is F04H5B1 to get an idea of machine setup.
