Office 2010 Open and Save Dialogs shows "The webpage no longer exists" browsing Project Server 2007 Document Library RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am getting a "The webpage no longer exists" (http 410 gone) error shown in the Open or Save dialogs within Word 2010 or Excel 2010 when browsing to the "Document Library" folder in Project Server 2007.

I am able to browse to the document libraries within IE, open documents and save them and even (if I know the file name) open and save the document from the Word 2010 dialogs.  I just can't see the list of files in the Document Library within the Open or Save dialogs.  I can see the list of project workspaces, click into one and see the document library link.

I am using Windows 7.  I also have a XP machine with Office 2007 and I can see the list of files OK.

I have searched around for clues, but can't find anyhing out there.

The event logs on the project server show nothing related.

IIS on the project server is logging the following:

  • Hi all,

The problem with file dialogs accessing the ‘Project Documents’ libraries is due to the fact that this library uses a different feature (or base schema) when compared to normal document libraries, and for this feature the file dialog html file (FileDlg.htm) is missing from the following location on the SharePoint server:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\PWSDocLibs\PWSDocLib\

The fix is easy, take a copy of  FileDlg.htm  from:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\DocumentLibrary\DocLib\

    Regards,
    Paul

    Hi,

Try holding down the Ctrl key as you start Word to enter Safe Mode.

If this works OK, you've probably got a misbehaving add-in. Disable them all and try again.

If that works you can re-enable just the add-ins you actually need one by one, testing each time until you find the add-in which is causing the problem.

    Sincerely

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply and sorry for not getting back sooner.  I tried opening Word in safe mode, but unfortunately this did not resolve the issue.  The "410 Gone" message is still displayed.

Is there anything else I could try?  I suspect that the issue is related to how Office 2010 interacts with the WebDav service published on the Project Server, but I just don't know enough about this to investigate.  Is there anything to do with WebDav that I could tweak on my workstation?

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated :)

(Ops - forgot to post message yesterday - lucky my browser session was still open! )

  • PS: I tried running the SharePoint Configuration Wizard which seemed like a good idea, then got side tracked by another issue where the Wizard couldn't find the Configuration Database, nor list any databases on my SQL Server, resulting in lots of SSPI Handshake Authentication Failures on the SQL Server.  After lots of banging of the desk I bounced the server off and back on the domain and that resolved that issue.  The SharePoint Configuration Wizard ran OK, but didn't resolve the issue with the Open Save Dialogs.

I'm now going to try and reinstall/repair Project Server.

  • After overcoming various issues with the Project Server Repair setup not finding the individual MSIs and, effectively, running each MSI in turn (with lots of reboots in between), I was able to successfully complete the repair of Project Server and....da, da, daaaa......it made no difference.  So.  Back to my original question.  Is there anything wrong with WebDav that could be causing me to recieve the "HTTP 410 Gone" messages in the Open/Save Dialogs?

    Please help! :)

  • Having the same issue as above but on further investigation it seems to be a Windows 7 to Project Server 2007 issue. If I try to save from MS Office or Adobe Reader on Windows 7 to Project Server 2007 I get the "The webpage no longer exists" error in the Save As dialog. If I try to save from MS Office or Adobe Reader on Windows XP to Project Server 2007 I have no problems. Anyone find a resolution for this yet?

  • Hi,

I am also having same issue with SharePoint 2010. When i browse the sharepoint document libraries(created out of custom OOTB document library definition without any customization) it is showing "web page no longer exists" error. For default document libraries this problem is not there. This looks strange as it not even working for custom document library definition.
This is only with Windows 64 bit OS.  I have Desktop feature enabled in my windows server 2008 machine.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Shreecanth
