Project Server 2010 Security Groups - A Team Member needs same access as PM RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an instance where the PM has a Team Member that does all of the schedule updates as well as updating the information on the Project Site. Since a project cannot have two PM's, what group is the "assistant" assigned to? Or should we set up a custom group?

  • You could create a security group just for those team members - something
like copy the My Projects category, give them PM rights on any project in
which they are the status manager.  Then, it's up to the PM to make them
status manager on at least one task and they will have save rights to the
    project.

  • Well - the easiest thing would be to have the PM give the TM the appropriate
permissions.  Click on the project in Project Center, then select the Manage
    Permissions button in the ribbon.

  • PM's don't have access to assign permissions - only admins

  • Andrew - I understand what you meant (now). I did train the PM's that they can assign project level permissions to another user. Thank you for your help.
