how to protect Sharepoint web front end customization with DPM 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI,

We have custom aspx pages, web.config changes and other features deployed on WFE(not with Sharepoint Solutions, wsp). How can I protect these, DPM SharePoint protection, only protects databases.

    Regards

  • There is no DPM supported way of protecting these features installed on the WFE.

  • Hi Singhhome,

These are located in folders on your SharePoint WFE. You would back these up like you would backup other folders in DPM. Below is more information on where these are located on the WFE.

    http://blog-sharepoint.blogspot.com/2009/12/where-is-sharepoint-webconfig.html

“There is a separate web.config file for each Web Application / IIS Website which is running an instance of SharePoint. For example, if Sharepoint, Central Admin and the MySite host are all running as separate Web applications (different Application pools) on separate IIS sites, there will be a web.config file in the root of the virtual directory for each application. There is also a separate web.config file which contains configuration details for the "_layouts", "_catalogs", etc directories of SharePoint sites.”
