About Exchange 2010 Shared MailBox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are users need individual e-mail address to access shared e-mail box or they can just login with their name?

Cause in our company we don't want to give them e-mail address. We just want them to access one shared e-mailbox and use it to communicate with us and customers.

Is there any way to do that?

  • You can create a shared mailbox, then grant access to Windows accounts - however, you need to add these permissions outside the Exchange system, since the Exchange tools require that an account have a mailbox in order to be granted rights to a mailbox.  I believe you can use ADSIEdit to grant the rights you wish, and grant Send As and Receive As to allow these accounts access to the mailbox in question. However, I'd recommend that you create a security group to grant the rights - this will simplify adding additional users to the mailbox (or removing existing ones) at a later date.
