Trouble with clean install of Vista Home Premium - keeps asking to reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just build my first PC from components and tried to load Vista Home Premium 32 bit from OEM disk.  It installed part (most?) of the way, but after one of the normal install-requested reboots, it keeps giving me the error "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered errors. Windows installation cannot proceed.  To install Windows click "OK" to restart the computer and then restart installation."  It repeats this looping when I reboot.  What can I do to finish my install?  Many thanks!

  • If you built it, why are you using an OEM disk? If I built a system and plopped in my Dell copy of vista it wouldn't work. Is that the OEM for system builders disk on the other hand? Boot from the disk(press F12 to get to the boot menu), whipe the partition and try again.
