Add a program executable to the trusted zone RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a home grown .net application that I am trying to run on a server.  Because it's a terminal/citrix server I want to keep the IE Enhanced Security Configuration turned on. However, when I run the .exe I get the warning from IE that tells me about:security_application.exe was blocked and needed to be added to the Trusted Zone.  There are lots of posts on this topic on the net but they all talk about websites, not apps. Anybody find a solution to this?

  • Hi Ross,

Based on your scenario, the executable files and Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration are two key point, about this topic, I find out an official article to consult.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/815141

From this article, we should note that executable files is linked to the Local intranet zone. Maybe we need to adjust the security level at first, then add your citrix server address into the Local intranet zone to test the result.

Besides, I think that you have added the citrix server address into the Trusted sites zone, but, according to your description, it may be useless. In picture,  we find that default security level is Medium, please try change it into Medium-Low, just like the level of Local intranet zone.

Please check the best practice of this feature:

Hope my suggestion could be helpful.
