Vista Windows Photo Gallery won't print Tif of Fax images properly RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that this junk they call Vista has a program called Photo Gallery which converts any fax (or tif file) in to landscape when printing. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a fix? or is Microsoft was working on the problem?

  • Work Around:

Install the following and then change TIFs to open in IE.

  • I finally found a fix to this problem. You may want to print these instruction and please pass on to anyone you know who may be having this problem.

I went to www.bravareader.com/downloadreader.htm and downloaded the free reader on the left side of the screen

Then to associate the tif file with the reader I did the following:

Click on Start in lower LH corner

    Left click on Default programs

Left click on Associate file type or protocol with a program

Wait a few seconds while it loads

Scroll down to .tif and click on it

Left click on Change Program at top right

    Click on Browse

Scroll down to IGC folder and left double click the folder

Left double click on Brava Reader folder

Single left click on Brava Reader at the bottom

Click Open at lower right hand corner

Click OK and wait while the program finishes

You should now see Brava Reader next to the tif file in the list

Click on close and you are done!

Now we can get back to work....opening and printing our faxes and other tif files.

  • Thanks for the link, Brava Reader is a great solution for the multiple tif printing problems we've been having on Server 2008 using the Windows Photo Gallery and Office Picture Viewer.  The Brava Reader seems to have fixed the problems.  Here is an updated link http://www.bravaviewer.com/reader.htm

  • Those solutions are all nice, but I can preview a Tiff directly in Outlook 2007 and just want to print it as I see it. Not cropped. Not rotated. If Outlook 2007 can preview it why can't it simply print it without having to open it in another application. Why does that have to be so difficult....
