Cannot access email over DirectAccess RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is a really wierd issue.

We can't get user email profiles created on the systems through DirectAccess. If the OST file and profile is activated in the internal network Outlook keeps working even with Direct Access. TCPView shows Outlook.exe connecting to the correct IPv6 address and using telnet to connect to the server also works fine (port 135).

So connectivity to the emailserver seems to work. Both domain controllers are correctly defined in UAG console. The only thing I can think of causing this would be the install of TMG SP2, but I wouldn't lightly remove it since it seems to be more than an Uninstall process from Programs and features.

Any ideas on how to get the true reason behind this issue would be really appriciated.

  • Got a little further with this issue. Adding the CAS server to the host file in IPv4 format makes the creation of the local email profile possible. So I'm guessing this is a issue with DNS or IPv6 support in either Outlook 2007 or Exchange 2007, which both should according to technet articles support ipv6.
