Program windows RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can I make program windows bigger  when I open the program?

Seems like the size is limited.

In winders 98se I could put the mouse pointer on any corner and drag it open OR closed to any size I wanted too.

    That doesn`t work In Vista!.

  • Hi,

As chris mentioned, It depend on software itself. You can contact program manufacturer to see if anyupdate at their sides.

  • That functionality is still there.
However, there are sometimes programs (or some web pages) that are hardcoded to a certain size.
Is it some program in particular that you're having a problem with?

  • One particular program prompted me to inquire BUT all the programs I have do that.

Also webpages do that too.The website info is centered on the screen and nothing I do changes it.

Is there some stiing I can change for that?

  • Another point is the little ribbed deal down in the lower right-hand corner is NOT on ANY of my program windows like it was in 98SE.

That was for dragging the window open or closed more.

I'll double-check my laptop when I get home (only XP boxen here at work); but, I don't think that the little ribbed guy is there anymore.
However, you can still grab the edge of a window (or any corner, your choice) & drag it to suit.
Float the mouse pointer over the edge of a window.  See how it turns to a double-ended arrow?  Click & drag.
Now, IE is a little wierd with this, though.  To get it to 'stick' to the desired size, you'll need to:
-Close ALL open windows, but for one internet explorer window.
-Size that IE window how you'd like it.
-While holding <Ctrl>, close the window (via its X box.)
IE will now remember the size that you just set it to.

  • Ok now we`re talking program windows not Internet Explorer windows.

On all my program windows there`s no way to expand the text in them.

For instance,Zone Alarms text is so small it`s almost unreadable.
