i am running windows 8.1 pro 64 bit, some times my desktop freezes suddenly & i can barely move my mouse pointer, then at that time i observed that the entire desktop screen refreshes automatically & again everything works fine & i can work with my pc, i want to know is there any service built in windows 8.1 to automatically detect such freezing issues & refresh the entire desktop session automatically??, if so can i find the service details in services.msc ??Friday, October 10, 2014 4:30 AM

Hi,
no there is no such service.
It sounds to my as iff exploere.exe crashes, but to be sure, check event viewer for information on what happened.

Hi,
I agree with SenneVL , it sounds like a explorer crash, check the event viewer for more information, specially under
Event Viewer\Windows Logs\Application.
If it is really related about Windows Explorer crash, then it mostly be caused by incompatible shell extensions, you can use this tool ShellExView to disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers one-by-one and verify if the problem is solved.
See more infromation about ShellExView in this link

if it is explorer crash, then i am experiencing this crash in the middle of my work i.e all of a sudden mouse pointer starts to move dead slowly & whole system stops responding, it stays in this position for 10 seconds & all of a sudden again system screen refreshes itself entirely & i can work on my pc normally, i experience this issue once or twice in 2-3 days in a row.Wednesday, October 15, 2014 4:59 AM
