Windows 8 Firewall outgoing connections prompt RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Microsoft,

just tried the Windows 8 release preview and it seems that the internal firewall is still not able to ask the user if he wants to allow a program to establish outgoing internet connections.

I understand that you cannot enable such a prompt by default (you only do this for incoming connections) because it might demand too much of uncertain users but nevertheless you could offer a checkbox to enable this.

I don't want to disable all outgoing connections and then create rules myself because this would be a tedious task and I won't be notified which application actually needs it.

I also don't want to use this Add-on "Windows 7 Firewall Control" from Sphinx Software because I don't trust this company (you actually don't find any information about these guys).

So please tell me WHY you still don't offer this?? It is a feature you find since ages in other firewalls (e.g. Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, etc etc etc).

I really hope you can release an update with that feature.
