Windows 10 Migration

  • Experts,

We are planning to migrate Windows 10 from Windows 7 SP1, need advice and suggestion on the below queries...

    1. In current Windows 7 SP1 image we have McAfee applications for Antivirus (ePo agent 4.8) and Endpoint Encryption (7.1). In this case how do we migrate? which options we need to choose? Is there any way to migrate?

    2. We have around 1000 applications combination of Microsoft and other vendors, how to we check the application compatibility for Windows 10? Is there any web site to find out the certified application for Windows 10?

    3. We have both the architecture (32 bit and 64 bit) for Windows 7 SP1. How do we migrate the 32 bit architecture to Windows 10? is windows 10 supports 32 bit architecture?

  • Hi Shiva,

As Regin said, McAfee Anti-Virus software and Endpoint Encryption software belong to desktop apps, both of them need to be reinstalled on new Windows 10 system. Of course, you can deploy them or choose built-in Windows Defender.

Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) is a good tool check if your apps and drivers are compatible with Windows 10. For more information please refer to this link.

Besides, Windows 10 still has 32-bit version.
