passing odbc credentials/microsoft access/powershell/db2 RRS feed

  • Hello!

This is a quick follow up to a question I recently asked.

I am working on Microsoft Access automation via Powershell for a number of different queries that I use to pull and monitor data. I can automate virtually every step from creating the local Access DBs to running the queries and reporting on the data except for one:

If a query is in a local Access DB and has to pull data from a linked DB2 table, every time I run the query - no matter the connection string I use - I have to enter my db2 credentials. I've been trying to find a workaround but have been unsuccessful.

Is there a way to script passing db2 credentials in an Access query? If I can find that it will complete all the automation I have been working on.

    Thank you for your help!

  • As I noted before, this question needs to be asked in the Access developers forum.  Access can save credentials.  There are API methods for supplying credentials in Access.  It cannot be done from PowerShell.
