  • Hi Got the same thing.

Solution to this is simple, but also strange.

The missing types are not incorporated in the SharePoint 2016 installer.

Solution : download SharePoint Foundation 2013 and run the installl halfway through.
So you have to pass the prereq tests which is cumbersome with every version of SharePoint.

Then run the installer and don't run farm config, no need. End that install and try the SharePoint 2016 install again. It should not complain about the types anymore. deinstalll Foundation 2013 afterwards, farm stays running. Off course this is a workaround.

If you like another adventure, try to get through the Prereqs installing ShP 2016 on a Windows Server 2016. You can even use SQL server 2016, that's not causing the trouble.
You will never pass the prereqs, because Application Server role is gone in Server 2016 and Shp prereqs wants it badly (also prereq 2013 wants it) Same goes for another feature of Server 2016. So 2016 is not yet fully compatible with 2016.

Why not incorporate Sharepoint 2013 and Shp 2016 as a Server Feature in Server 2013 and 2016?

    Regards, Mark.

  • To Microsoft Tech People,

Just waited out and tried the patch on SharePoint 2016 which led to a AppFabric install circle.

Now picked up SharePoint Server 2016 RTM and tried to install that. IT Works fabulously!

    My Config is :

    1- Windows Server 2016 TP 4
    2- SQLServer 2016 TCP 3
    3-
    SharePoint Server 2016 RTM

Prereqs ran through without NO problem at all. Install went like sunshine.

    Congrats!

  • hi

i had your issue with same exception

    my environment configuration :
    Database Server : Windows Server 2012 R2 / SQL Server 2014 SP 1
SharePoint Server (Single Server Farm) : Windows Server 2012 R2 / Sharepoint Server 2016 RTM

i doubted on .Net Framework. i installed .net framework manually from offline package, this caused the issue.
unfortunately sharepoint passed prequisites .Net 4.6.

after install .NetFramwork 4.6 via prerequisites installer the problem is fixed.

  • Hi Mohammed,

I go along with your explanation. I recently started using Specify an alternative source path in Server Manager tot the WIM file location with the installation media. That allways solved non available sources in de system install.

Still, prereqs of SP2016 have been updated because that was the basic problem. But after that, your solution is needed to complete the install after all.

    Mark.

    Hi Mohammad,

can you please provide more details about "after install .NetFramwork 4.6 via prerequisites installer the problem is fixed." I have the same environment like you, but never pass the PSConfig when I install prerequisites offline?

Installing prerequisites with internet connection is working fine.

    Thanks.

i think prerequisites installer use NDP46-KB3045560-Web version and this is a correct version that sharepoint use.

another installer of .net 4.6 maybe pass sharepoint installation checklist but in psconfig cause the error.

  • Reinstalling WCF Data Services with "Install runtime to the GAC" option selected fixed the issue in my case.

    Hope this helps.

  • I recently encountered this problem and the solution was that I installed The WCF Services Tool 5.6 using prerequisites installer as mentioned at

Didn't know this was an option, i'll try, but in my error reports or detailed logs i'm not seeing those specific .net dll warnings everyone else is, so i'm not sure that is even the problem for me :(
