Project Server 2010 authntication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

    we are going to migrate project server 2007 to 2010. In 2007 we don't have forms authentication but in 2010 , we want to have forms authentication. What is the best method to configure forms authentication i.e. cliam based authentication or extend the pwa site and configure forms authentication where the forms authentication users access the pwa with different port. Becase I heared claim based authentication will create issue and once configured cannot revert back.

  • well you may find lot of blog on how to configure the same, believe me they were no useful to me. we worked in bits and pieces and finally configured the CBA.

    I cannot explain the whole thing here, just give you a synopsis.

    1. You can create CBA extending the site,

    2. you need to configure the following in web.config for all 3 web application in IIS manager

                  ->   configure SqlMembershipProvider <peoplepickerwildcard>

                 -> configure roleprovider and membership, check http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee806890.aspx#section2

                 -> add the connectionstring to connect to you CBA database

        webapplication

         Central Administration Web Application
         Security Token Service
         Your Web Application

    3. you can delete CBA site using Manage web Application in central administration.

    this would get you some idea on where to start with
