Can't change permissions of the shares RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

setting up a group or user in the dashboard the permission of a shared folder can be set, but once the user or the group is created the permission can't be changed anymore, the settings are grey. I've seen this on 2 different servers. Any ideas?

    Thanks and regards

  • This was a known bug with the german language package installed: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/9be1bcc1-12b6-4528-a49d-c1072d7931b8/wse-2016-cant-change-the-user-account-access-permissions-in-the-dashboard?forum=winserveressentials#9be1bcc1-12b6-4528-a49d-c1072d7931b8

Perhaps it is also your problem?

  • Hi,

Please check share folder permission on below location:
    1. Dashboard – USERS – click to select one user account – View the account properties – Share folders.

    2. Dashboard – STORAGE – click to select specific folder – View the folder properties – Sharing.

Confirm that if you can change the user permission from either one of above options.

If problem persists, please provide below information:
    1. If such problem only happens on newly created user account? Or, specific user account?
    2. If such problem only happens on specific share folder? Is it system built-in server folder? or, the manually added sharing folder?

    Best Regards,
