Localspl.dll in spoolsv.exe taking 50% CPU load. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Am having a print server in that 5 printer installed.Os: Windows server 2008 R2

spoolsv.exe taking 50% of cpu load.

    I have tried the below.

1)stop the spooler service and deleted files from c:\windows\system32\spool\printer.

2)Using procexp, if found that the file localspl.dll taking this load.

if have copied the fresh file from other server pasted in the server facing the load issue. but while trying to resister the localspl.dll in the register got the error" localspl.dll was loaded but the entrypoint of dllregisterserver was not found"

If i kill the thread related to localspl.dll file in spoolsv.exe the load get reduce. If i restart the spooler service again the same issue.

Is any luck to resolve this issue?

  • How have you configured the print drivers for isolation?  If you are not yet using print driver isolation be sure to configure the print drivers using the  Shared setting.

Cheers for the day... and thanks for helping

I have set the print drivers System default to shared setting but there is no result.

Is any thing to do for resolving this issue?

  • If you have any One note or other virtual printers make sure there are now jobs stuck in the queue.

Unless you had the stacktrace for the spinning thread, it's hard to say.

  • No prints in the stacktrace.

I have killed the locallspl.dll thread in the spoolsv.exe file by using procexp.

If i restart the spooler services again the same.

Is any thing that i can?

  • I have never used procexp and had never heard of this tool until today.

Send the list of print drivers using printmanagement.msc, be sure to include the version number when you export the list from MMC.
