Exchange 2007 roles and features reinstallation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all , i have a windows 2008 r2 with an exchange 2007 SP3 installation. Yesterday we enable Outlook anywhere for remote users and and didnt work. We check event viewer and a problem says the rpc over http feature is not installed. Then we check the roles and features console and notice the rpc over http and other features needed for exchange was not installed.

whats the best option for reinstall all components in my server (cas, hub and mailbox roles) to ensure everything its ok ¿? i thinking in reinstalling SP3 or the recover switch but im not sure.

  • if you are planning to bring in everything back, I would prefer doing recover switch.

Why the need to do that?
RPC-over-HTTP-proxy is an optional feature and can always be added when needed.

If you feel like some of the other IIS Modules hasn't been installed, then run the Windows Powershell commands that you will find in the below technet article under the section "To install the Windows Server 2008 operating system prerequisites for a computer that will host the Hub Transport, Client Access, and Mailbox server roles"

  • thank you for your answers. I prefer not to rebuild the server. I tried running the servermanagercmd prerequisites like martina suggested whitout success.

runing the exchange rpc over http test from testexchangeconnectivity.com , it says it cannot ping the NSPI proxy interface (telnet server 6004) , ports 6001-6002 respond ok.

any ideas  (sorry this post have changed)
