Lync Mobile not compatible with HTC Desire? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've found Lync Mobile in the Android market via my PC's web browser, but it says it's incompatible with my device. On my device I cannot find the app at all. However, I see other people commenting on the same Market using it with the HTC Desire. Actually I cannot find any Microsoft apps... Even the Bing app is reported to be incompatible with my device. What could be wrong here?

  • Lync for mobile clearly state that it require the Android OS 2.3+ and if HTC Desire cannot be updated to 2.3, then it will not be able to. As i comment above Desire HD is capable to upgrate 2.3 above. there must be a confusion between 2 devices.

  • Hi,

it's not the phone but it's the Android OS version that running on the phone will have the compatibility issues. Make sure that the Os of your Dezire is 2.3 or greater. if it's lower than that you can upgrade given that the OCS compatibility is there. ny Dezire HD is running on 2.3.3

  • That's still weird. The max version of the Desire is 2.2, but still many users who commented in Market are using a  Desire. With a Samsung Gio which has Android 2.3 I also cannot install Lync Mobile.

  • You can root and use 2.3 custom ROM. Information on this topic is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=628.

  • That's work, but you lost the warranty vendor. Sorry.

  • You will not lose your warranty if you restore original ROM before warranty repair.
