Question
-
I am trying to setup hyper-v, but when I go to the server manager and click on add roles, it is not listed in the available server roles. I am running server 2008 standard service pack 2. Thanks!Monday, October 3, 2011 7:36 PM

Hi!
If you are running a 32-bit (x86) version of Server 2008, the Hyper-V role will be absent since it's a 64-bit technology and therefor not included.
There are also specific 64-bit editions called "2008 server without Hyper-V" available.
My guess is that you've got one of those installed.

R2 or no?
If it is Windows Server 2008, then you need to make sure you install the version that includes Hyper-V.
Before R2 there were 2 product skus for each version of Server 2008, one with Hyper-V and one without.
With Server 2008 R2 there is only the Hyper-V sku.
