LAPS - not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys, i followed this guide: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Step-by-Step-Deploy-Local-7c9ef772 and also the guide that comes with the LAPS download.

But when I deploy it to an OU and I check the LAPS UI and queried the AD machine there is no password set for the computer.

The password is just blank and the password expiry is always set on the same hour and date that I execute the LAPS UI.

Anything i'm missing on how to get this thing work?

    Thank you.

  • Apart of checking that the computers are part of this OU and that the applied settings are effective on the machine using gpresult and rsop.msc, you should make sure that:

    • The client package is installed on the target PCs. You can achieve this by GPOs
    • Enable local admin password management option is enabled
    • The Password Settings include the password age are configured
    • The Name of administrator account to manage is correctly set and matching the local admin account. You can consider renaming the local admin account by GPO to make sure that it is always matching

  • Thanks, Ahmed.

Thanks for the link, I just realize LAPS support Windows 7 and Windows 10 for clients, and for the server can it be used for Win 2k12 above?
