Pivot table view of a query in Access fails after Windows 7 SP1 RC1 is installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've confirmed on two different computers that Pivot table view of a query in Access fails after Windows 7 SP1 RC1 is installed.  Uninstalling SP1 RC1 allows the Pivot tables to work properly again.  I've used Access 2003, Access 2007 and Access 2010 with the same results.  The data link to the pivot table appears to be broken.

Update 11/11 - I just allowed one of my machines to download and install the latest update from Microsoft which included, among other updates, a Windows 7 SP1, "Wave 1".  I wondered if this might be different from RC1, so allowed it to be installed.  Unfortunately this produces the same problem described above.  The Pivot table is broken and the field list is empty (displays an X over the data and plug icon and no fields) even though checking the data source property of the form shows the query and fields.  The Pivot table displays the following error message: "The query could not be processed. No such interface supported."

Any thoughts or a solution would be appreciated.

  • Thanks for reporting this, it has been fixed for SP1 RTM.

Vincent, were you seeing this with the Beta, RC, or both?

  • I had the same problem. Message "The query could not be processed. No such interface supported." appears in Access 2010 when pivot table information should be displayed.

I uninstalled Win 7 SP1 Beta, and it works again fine.

Is there another fix for that problem ?

  • Thanks, Ryan.  Looking forward to the SP1 RTM release.  Any way to get an update now?

BTW, I reported another problem that has to do with Office 2010, but it pretty much got blown off in another forum as solved when it wasn't.  I teach Access at a local college and do Access application development so need to have Access 2003 and 2007 installed.  I installed Office 2010 Pro on two different machines running Windows 7 Pro x86 and Windows 7 Pro x64.  Now, on either machine, when I switch between Access 2010 and any previous Access version, my Outlook 2010's Send/Receive button disappears and Outlook is no longer able to send or receive email.  Sounds like a strange connection, but I can repeat it consistently.  I can get the Send/Receive capability back by doing an Office 2010 repair, but I'd have to do this repair every time I switch Access versions.  I uninstalled Office 2010 and the 2003/2007 versions work fine.

I realize that this isn't the proper forum to report this issue in, but hoped you might get it (or help me get it) to the right folks who will do some follow-up.  For now, I've just uninstalled Office 2010, but will be teaching it at the college in the Fall 2011 semester.  Any suggestions?

  • This was Beta version as per my post. I uninstalled it in the meantime, but will retry with RTM version.

    Thanks for the info.
