PowerPivot data model throwing a COM exception - Not Sharepoint related

  • I've got an extensive data model I developed, and after making a couple of minor (seemingly) changes, I'm getting a fatal error which is preventing me from accessing the data model.

    The error message detail is:

    Error Message:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    Call Stack:
at Microsoft.Office.PowerPivot.ExcelAddIn.InProcServer.CannotUpgrade(GeminiWorkbook geminiWb, WorkbookConnection wbConn, String& message)
       at Microsoft.Office.PowerPivot.ExcelAddIn.InProcServer.LoadSandboxAfterConnection(String errorCache)
       at Microsoft.Office.PowerPivot.ExcelAddIn.InProcServer.LoadSafeSandboxAfterConnection(String errorCache)
       at Microsoft.Office.PowerPivot.ExcelAddIn.InProcServer.LoadOLEDBConnection(Boolean raiseCompleteEvent, String errorCache)

Binging around got me a few results that seem specific to Sharepoint and so forth, but nothing about a standalone situation like mine. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

FWIW, I've removed all slicers, and there aren't any linked tables in the model that aren't in the spreadsheet.
