USB Hard drive problem with Vista - now corrupt RRS feed

  • Question

I recently bought a new laptop with Vista installed and have been having problems with my usb hard drive.

Everytime I connected it a message came up saying the disc had file errors and needed fixing. To try and get rid of it I decided to run the wizard and left it over night to do its thing,

The next morning I find that windows had installed updates and re-started part way through the scan it was doing on my hard drive. The drive is now corrupt and unreadable.

I think the master file table is damaged. Data is still on the drive - about 220gb's worth. I can really afford to lose that amount of data.

Do you advise if it is possible to recover this and if so how.

    Many thanks
