Can add new user9s) to AD - Created mailbox - New users can't get configured on workstations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Configuration:

    MS Windows Server 2003 R2 32 Bit SP2

    PAE extensions activated

    4 GB ram / CPU: 1.53 Ghz

    MS Exchange Version: 6.5.7638.1

    CLIENT:  MS OUTLOOK 2003

    Scenario:

We have had several new employees start this week.  On the MS Exchange Server, we have performed the Active Directory User Creation.  As part of creating the new user profile, we ran the necessary Exchange Tasks to create email accounts.

We did not get any errors and according to AD User Properties, there are email addresses assigned to the people.  However, we can't send to them since they do not appear in the GAL nor can they get connected when configuring MS Outlook - They get a message that the user doesn't exist.

What other information can be required?

  • Check to see if they are hidden from the GAL?

Can  you see them in OWA?

Are you sure they are mail-enabled?

Do you see the additional exchange tabs on the properties?

Can you move a user to another database?

  • Hi,

From your description, my suggestion is:

<1>When you create a user, ensure that you uncheck ‘Account is disable’ and ’select ‘Create an Exchange mailbox’.

<2>Check whether the user is in OWA GAL:

    1.        If the user is in it, you can wait at most one day to check.

    2.        If the user is not in OWA, you need to go to ADUC to check: ADUC->click View->Advanced Features->go to Users->right click the user that has problems->Properties->Exchange Advanced->uncheck ‘Hide from Exchange address list’

If you encounter any difficulties in the above steps, please let us know.

    Thanks

  • I did what you said to do and the users do not have the feature selected.

It is an actual MS EXCHANGE problem - I am opening a technet incident to resolve as it is a serious problem for us.

  • Have you checked the points that I mentioned?

    What NDR do you get?
