Sequencing Sage client + SQL client RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

We are testing APP-V (Softgrid 4.5) and are trying to "Sequence" a Sage 100 Client + its embedded SQL Native Client.
As it seems Sage client seems ok in the sequencing process, the issue is about the SQL Native Client, which, when using the package on a Softgrid Client, doesn't seems to be able to reach the Sage Server.
The Registry Value in the package contains the right Registry Key (which contains the Sage/SQL server name), but Softgrid client doesn't seems to use it.

Is anyone successfully "softgrided" a Sage Client ?
If so, how do you proceed ?
    I tried many things :
    - SQL client first + Sage Client second
    - Sage Client first + SQL Client second
    - one pack for SQL Client + one pack for Sage Client
    - ...

I don't know what to do more now....

    Thanks for your help

  • Hi all

    Thanks for your help
At last, I found how to sequence SQL + Sage client
I fact, I stopped the sequencing before some install tasks were over....
    Proceed as follow :
    - Begin monitoring
    - begin to install SQL Native client
    - at the "end" stop monitoring
    - wait some seconds, you will see some install tasks will continue...
    - when over, re-launch the monitoring
    - begin to install Sage client (such as Sage accounting)
    - at the end, stop monitoring
and it is done, you can continue to configure shortcuts, ...

    Et voila !!!

  • Hello,

I have sage v6 or v7, however due to a networking issue (basically, local network isn't connected to corporate) I haven't been able to let it through to UAT.

This will unfortunately take forever, so I can't really say whats wrong...

  • Not Sage 100 client, but I have worked with a couple other of their clients.  They were pretty straightforward as long as you can segregate the client component from the rest of the stuff.  I would expect that one to be easy.

  • Hello

Have you tried sequencing the SQL client using DSC?  For more information, please use the link below:

You should have started your own post but if you are using 4.6 SP1. You can save what you have done and open the sprj with Sequencer and go to Upgrade Application. You then got brought through the sequencing wizard for your application again.

If you just want to be able to install a bunch of things you can choose custom Installation during Choose Installation phase of the wizard. Or you could choose the default and on the screen after that  you can choose to add more or run more installations.

Or alternatively from within the sequencer GUI there's a Diagnostics tool which is a command prompt which you can use for retrospectively adding files if required.

  • Thanks.

I will try that. I hope it could be a solution to sequence sage on Seven sequencer. Actualy i must use a Xp sequencer if i does'nt want a critic error that stop installation.

With Seven i can install Sage i7 without sequencer but when i use sequencer i have a error that stop the install

  • It most likely wouldn't be a problem if you sequence on XP. I only know English and a bit of Irish so I can't help you with the error message :)
