USMT to another domain

Question
-
Hi,
As part of a SCCM 2000 to XP deployment I am also moving users from one domain to another. This includes a change in user name e.g. currentdomain\currentusername -> newdomain\newusername.
I know USMT 3.0.1 can assist with domain migration and user name changes but this as far as I can see is all done on the command line using multiple /mu: commands with loadstate. My question is what if there are hundreds of users, wouldn't you run out of command line space with all those /mu: commands?
Thanks

Yes, you would. :-) But you probably don't have hundreds of users on a single computer. You would need to set the command line appropriate for the user on the computer that you are migrating.

I am trying to use the /MU option as well but am having no luck with it to move users from one domain to another. Here is the process I am following
-
log into computer on domain 123
-
run scan state command and save data to location on domain 345
-
log onto new machine on domain 345
-
run loadstate command: loadstate /i:migapp.xml /i:miguser.xml /i:migsys.xml \\thi-sccm2\migdata\%username% /l:\\thi-sccm2\logs\%username%\prog.log /md:123:345 (where %username% equals the actual user name - files saved in scanstate based upon username
Issues:
User state is capture but when the loadstate is run the userstate is stored on the new machine as local "user abc" not "user abc. domain 345"
Any ideas on where this may be going wrong?
Thanks Kath

You might try posting your question to the Windows Vista IT Pro -> Migration forum. This is the forum specifically for migration questions, including USMT 3.0.Wednesday, January 16, 2008 4:57 PM
