Skype for business client not allowing control to remove users or add RRS feed

  • Question

  • So i have a user who cannot remove users from group list or move them or even add users, user get the typical error

We use Office 365, user uses Office 2013 client

    Windows 10 creators update OS

    What I tried

    1. repaired office

    2. deleted SIP profile and Accountprofile.dat

    3. Used OWA Lite version to remove all contacts in Skype and when doing that everyone reappears again. I have used this method in similar cases and it actually worked.

Not sure what else to try besides opening a ticket with MS.  Any clue? There isnt much out there on google that I have tried. Is there a power shell to clean this up?

  • I got this resolved by migrating the user again

    ·         Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

    ·         Import-Module LyncOnlineConnector

    ·         $cred = Get-Credential (When asked for credential, you need to end O365 admin credentials)

    ·         $CSSession = New-CsOnlineSession -Credential $cred

    ·         Import-PSSession $CSSession -AllowClobber

    ·         Invoke-CsUcsRollback -Identity user@domain.com  (input user’s office 365 account)

Waited several minutes then deleted Lync SIP, Trace Folder, RSA key, registery SIP

  • Hi,

Its really great to see when someone first atleast attempts and mention those steps used to encounter the issue. Coming to your question, its seems to be a issue with Contact List provider which can be either UCS or Lync server itself. Please check the same by holding down the Control key and right-click on the Lync icon in your system tray and select “Configuration Information”. Also check auto-discover services on https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ specifically using "Outlook Autodiscover".

Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. Thanks.

  • Hi Joe-ker,

Would you please tell us did the issue only appear on the specific client or specific user?

If the issue only appeared on the specific client, it may be a client side issue, please try to reinstall the client.

If the issue only happen to specific user, it may be something wrong with the user, please try to run the command Get-CsUser in SFB management shell to compare user attribute between the affected user and other normal users.

Please also check if the contact is migrated to Exchange server, if it is the case, please try to run the command Invoke-CsUcsRollback to change contact list back to local server, please refer to
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/skype/Invoke-CsUcsRollback?view=skype-ps

According to your screenshot, it looks like you use Lync 2013 client, for Lync 2013,  the maximum contact groups limit is 64, please check if you reached the maximum number.

Hope this reply is helpful to you.

  • We don't have a Lync server, it's hosted in Office 365.

I already repaired Office. It's happening to one user thus far. I had the same case before but using OWA lite version fixed that user's issue just not this user.

Also im curious if users need Office 2016 client since Office 365 is based on 2016 now.

As mentioned i had user remove all users from skype for business contacts in OWA lite and they reappeared

user is using Skype for business

  • Some odd reason in Skype online in standard OWA we removed a federated domain user and things started working. Will monitor. Not sure why that would be the problem.
