Windows 10 & Failover Cluster Manager - 'Add File Share' - Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Day Community!

Issue: RSAT Windows 10 version KB2693643 (WindowsTH-RSAT_WS2016-x64.msu) fails to add a new file share to a Windows 2012 R2 server with CAFS.

Error: Right click 'add file share' -> retrieving server and cluster -> status failed

Resolve:Uninstall KB2693643 and install WindowsTH-RSAT_TP5_Update-x64  (which holds the same KB2693643)

But why? What am I missing? :)

Background: We have a Windows 2012 R2 Cluster with CAFS enabled. We recently upgraded to Windows 10 1607, and installed the latest RSAT to find we couldn't add a new file share. We resolved this by installing the previous version of RSAT tools.

  • Hi ,

We have noticed that the RSAT tools for  Windows 10 version 1607 have some issues and the only workaround is installing the previous version of the RSAT tool. You have found that. We have reported the issue on our side. You could try the built-in "Feedback" tool to submit the issue on your side. I hope it could be fixed in the near future.

    Best regards
