Issues with Windows Ultimate Extras and SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • My computer runs on Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Through Windows Ultimate Extras, I installed DreamScene Content Pack #3 and Windows Sound Schemes. According to the update history, both were successful installations. Afterwards, I tried installing SP1 multiple times, but each time, I got an error: Code 80070059. Now, the Ultimate Extras updates have somehow disappeared, although my update history says that they both installed successfully and won't let me remove/reinstall them. And I don't have any restore points because the attempted installation of SP1 wiped them out. Is there any way I can get these Ultimate Extras, and how can I get past the error to install SP1? Help please, thanks.

  • Hi,

First please confirm if these Extras updates exist in Control Panel\Programs and Features\View installed updates. If not, please install SP1 first. If you are not prompted to install these Extras updates after SP1 is installed, please click Check for updates in Control Panel\Windows Update to manually check for updates.

    Hope it helps.

  • After like a week, I was prompted to install them, so I guess the problem is solved.

The error message 8024200D indicates that an important windows update that is required before installing SP1, has not been installed.

Read the following article and make sure that you have all of the required updates before you try to install SP1.

Information about Windows Vista Service Pack 1:

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates:

A software update is available for versions of Windows Vista that include the Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption feature:
