How do I fix that some FN keys on my compact USB keyboard do not work in Windows 7 (64bit) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I recently got a new compact USB keyboard (Revoltec K107 corded: http://goo.gl/VjRmB) that I want to use with Windows 7 (64bit). The keyboard has a compact layout like some laptops have. The manufacturer states that the keyboard is fully Windows 7 compatible. However, unfortunately some of the FN keys do not work with Windows 7. The keys in question are as following: FN-Scroll-Lock, FN-Pos1, FN-End, FN-Page Up and FN-Pg-Dn. The only two FN-Keys that do work are the keys FN-F11 and FN-F12. However the keyboard itself seems alright because if I start my PC and go straight into the BIOS settings, all FN keys are working fine. I already tried to connect the keyboard to differnt USB ports even to the ones on my monitor, tried to uninstall and reinstall the Windows USB drivers, tried it on another PC and replaced the keyboard itself all to no avail. I also contacted the manufacturer support but they couldn't help either. They claim that it must be related to my Windows 7 configuration. Another weird thing I tried was to connect the keyboard via a PS2->USB adapter. Interestingly that worked when I disconnected my old keyboard from it and connected the new one when Windows was already up and running. After a restart of the system however, the problems were back and the keyboard again was not working correctly. So now I really could use some help, hoping that there might be some registry tuning or driver installation or whatever that could help me fix the issue because I really would like to use the keyboard.

By the way my Windows 7 is up to date. The main board in the PC is the ASRock 970 Extreme 4.

    Kind regards

    Marc

  • Hi,

I already contacted the manufacturer like I described in my first post. I came here after I tried everything else!

In the meantime the keyboard has been replaced but that didn't help either.

Anyways, finally I replaced the keyboard with a different model and that works, so case closed.
