Outlook message approval

    Question

  • Hi guys,

Just have a quick question concerning email approval.  We have a distribution group moderated for approval with several users.  Now we have had this case where a users send a mail to this distribution group -> an moderator approved this mail.

After the mail being deliverd to the users, one of them did a reply to this distribution group in CC. We noticed that this reply was delivered to the distribution group.

    So my question is:

    1) Does a reply in cc also needs this approval of one of the moderators?

    2) If yes, can we somehow figure out who of the moderators approved that mail (via powershell,..)

    Thanks already !!

    greetings

  • Hi,

    For your questions:

    1) Yes.

    2) One of methods is using Search-Mailbox command. If you know the subject of that message, things will easier to check in the results. For example:

Search-Mailbox User2 -SearchQuery 'body:"*Approval*"' -TargetMailbox administrator -TargetFolder test -LogLevel Full

Replace User2 to moderators of distribution group.

The results will be saved in target folder as attachment. Open that attachment, and open csv file in Excel. Find one entry like the following. If this moderator approve this message, it will be shown in Sent Items Folder. So try it.
