We received error code : 800F0A12 in Windows Update (recommended), when installing Service Pack 1 (KB 976932) in Windows 7 x64. Please guide in this regard with proper solution and also avoid to give any linked pages.

In my case the boot configuration was corrupt:
I booted to a Windows Server ISO and ran this from the WinPE Cmd prompt:
After doing this, the installation ran as expected.
