Upload meeting recording to specific channel in Stream RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I am looking for a way, to prevent meeting recording from uploading into the default location in Stream, but instead upload to a channel I have specified.
As far as I can tell, this is not possible with OOTB features, but might it be possible to do this in some other way?

Perhaps using Power Automate or Azure Automation?

    Best regards,

    Michael

  • Hi MichaellT02,

As you said, there is no way to upload meeting record to a channel you specified. This is by design.

Meeting recording are stored in Microsoft Stream cloud storage. If Microsoft Stream isn’t available in the in-country data residency region where the data is stored, the meeting record is turned off for customers. Here’s a summary of what happens when you turn on meeting recording when this change takes effect:

For more details, you can refer to:

  • Hi Michael,

Stream now offers to have your recorded meetings saved from MS teams, you will get an email after when it process 100 %. It is up to you whether you use Office 365 group connected Teams in order to simplify your communication and meeting patters dedicated to specific teams and connect to groups. However, you still have the option to upload manually if you have meetings done via Skype.

  • Hey

Well the question isn't weather or not the recording are actually uploaded, I know they are saved in the cloud.

The question was, is it possible to change that location to something of your own choosing, but as I already said initially, I didn't expect that to the case, and your answers both confirm that.

    So the next question is:

If I start a meeting, in any given channel withing a Team, and I record it, will the recording then be available to all Team memebers when the upload is complete and not just the once that where invited to the meeting?

  • Hi Michael,

Teams created in Teams Admin Center offers Office 365 - Connected Group. The same Group Offers Group Calendar. After adding group calendar in outlook other/shared calendar offers to schedule meeting in teams-By choice selection teams. Recorded Meeting from Group Calendar stores in Streams. Thus Streams also offers Office 365 Group Association and Office 365 Teams Groups also can be searched in Streams to find recorded Meeting. You have to tweak company wide channel or group channel as per your requirement. I've explained how I did earlier, for Deep and Dive, you can refer https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/stream/groups-channels-overview updated by Microsoft and subject to change anytime from Microsoft. For your primary question- You can disable team recordings provided if you have admin rights on teams.

At this moment I've not come across flow integration but I can see Stream public API in road map. Perhaps this may helps in automation in future. Even https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=In%20development%2CMicrosoft%20Stream

In-fact stream is still evolving https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/stream/migrate-from-office-365 For your second question, Yes, recorded video with associated group have access but refer Stream as an admin Global Admin or Stream admin role. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/stream/manage-content-permissions
