How to stop executing the query on people search if search box is only having one character RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created a FAST search center in SharePoint 2010. While using the People Search, when I am putting any single character such as "a" or "s", I am getting 50K results.

But my requirement is to make the search when the search box contains more than 2 characters into that. What is the best way to execute this kind of requirements. If user is entering only a single character in search box, we don't want to execute the query. How can we stop the execution of query if only one character is there is search box?

    Thanks

  • People search is SharePoint and not FAST specific, you might want to extend the search box control to include a check for a number of characters, or use Content Editor web part with JScript to intercept number of characters and give a message to end users.
