USB Keyboard and Mouse not working at welcome screen due to Group Policy on Sever Itself

  • I'am using Microsoft Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition. The issue i'am facing is, I've applied a Group Policy of blocking all USB ports on the computers under domain. So unknowingly it also applied to the servers in the network. After a while i had to disable the network adapter of the server and hit a restart. To my surprise, the group policy is applied and i'am unable to use even USB keyboard and mouse after the boot process at welcome screen. Appreciate assistance as soon as possible.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

If you do not want the policy “disable all USB ports on the computer” apply to the server, you could configure security filtering or WMI filtering.

Or you could delegate the computer with deny apply group policy.

    Best Regards,
