We need more than 255 characters in a Project text field RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are there any text fields in MS Project that can handle more than 255 characters?  We are using Project Server v2010 SP2

  • Chris,

In your question, you did not specify, where you want view this field.

If you are viewing this field in PWA, then yes, the 255 character truncation is something you cannot get past. (may be with some customization)

If you are vieweing in MSP, then the Notes field will hold a lot of data, and there is no trucation.

  • I think only the Notes field allows more than 255 characters. Alternatively, you can create a multiple line field in PWA and edit it via PWA (not editable in MSP).

  • The Notes field is also truncating at 255.  Thanks anyway.
