Send By E-mail Rendering Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • When a visitor to our website clicks the "Send by Email" link in the File menu of Internet Explorer, the resultant message that is generated in Outlook for sending is hideous and an amalgam of hidden navigation menus exploded and splayed out in the message.

Is there any way to control the output of this action through stylesheets or?  Any way to simply disable this option for all users if not?

Causing me a bit of a headache with our legal team that thinks the rendering is a political liability.

  • Hi,

Post questions about html, css and scripting for web site developers to the IE Web Development forum. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/home?forum=iewebdevelopment

Include with your question a link to your website for ppl to investigate....

f12>Console tab, refresh the page to show suppressed error messages....

Validate your page markup at validator.w3.org.... you probably have an unclosed element somewhere or invalid markup, clicking the mailto: link is appending the innerHTML of the anchor tag to the message body. Office Outlook has a setting to display messages in Rich Text Format (Quirks html) or as text.

the IE Developer tool will warn you about some markup errors.... web browsers differ in how they guess to fix markup errors....
