SP2013: Audit Log Report errors "An unexpected error has occurred" and "Report contains no data" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

We have 1WFE ,1App, 1DB SharePoint 2013 Farm, usually the farm is less usage from end users.

When we are trying to generate Custom Audit log report for Site Collection or SubSites and select between dates for one day or a week, and Select option "Opening or downloading documents, viewing items in lists, or viewing item properties"

But we are getting errors "Sorry, Something Went Wrong" (refer error screen shots)

NOTE: The Site collection audit settings and Reporting Feature is configured properly still we are getting errors.

When we are select audit report for more than 3 days or a week, we are getting below error "An unexpected error has occurred"

When we select audit report for one day, we are getting below error "Report contains no data"

  • Hi,

If you are sure Audit and reporting correctly configured, and Audit log timer job is not been stuck then try to query the with different conditions until you get data on your report.

Alternatively you can also diagnose this issue with Event Log Viewer.

  • Hi mmraja,

To troubleshoot your issue, you can check the things below:

    1. In Configure Audit Settings page, check if you set automatically trim the audit log for this site. If so, the date you select doesn’t exceed the date of remain.

    2. Deactivate Reporting feature in site collection features, run IISREST and reactivate the Reporting feature.

    3. If the issue exists, try to clear SharePoint configure cache.
