Customsettings.ini model syntax ... RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I've recently needed to implement more control over driver operations for MDT, as such, I've chosen to use the customsettings.ini to specify the model of the machine, and therein assigning specific models a driver group. As such ..

    [Settings]
    Priority=Model,Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty

    [Default]

    [Latitude E5430]
    DriverGroup001=Windows 7\Latitude E4 Family
    DriverSelectionProfile=nothing

    I'm left with a few questions ... Since models are sometimes (often) prefixed (example Latitude E5430 non-vPro, Latitude E5430 Pro, etc) I was wondering if it's possible to use what would be essentially wild cards in my Customsettings.ini ... Like perhaps ...

    [Settings]
    Priority=Model,Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty

    [Default]

    [%Latitude E5430%]
    DriverGroup001=Windows 7\Latitude E4 Family
    DriverSelectionProfile=nothing

    The idea being that if the model is found to have the string Latitude E5430, regardless of what is in front or behind the string, we've found our match.

    Does this work as I intend it to? If not, any thoughts on how to achieve my goal without having to trial and error all of the different extras added to the end of a model?

    ----------------------------

    Secondly, Can I add multiple cases to the same action? If so, what would be the syntax?

    [Latitude E5430, LatitudeE5440, Latitude E5450]
    DriverGroup001=Windows 7\Latitude E4 Family
    DriverSelectionProfile=nothing

    Or Perhaps ...

    [Latitude E5430][LatitudeE5440][Latitude E5450]
    DriverGroup001=Windows 7\Latitude E4 Family
    DriverSelectionProfile=nothing

    Thanks!
