The operation failed due to a virtual disk service error RRS feed

  • Question

  • On DPM 2012 SP1, after we click the Shrink button on the Modify Disk Allocation window, the following errors appears.

The operation failed due to a virtual disk service error
    Retry the operation.

    ID: 360
Details: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it

The disks are all GPT. The Virtual Disk service is started. No errors in the Event logs.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Disk defrag is initiated when a volume shrink is attempted. See if there is any problem defragging a volume and correct any problems doing that.
