Which approval scenarios are possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have some different aproval scenarios which I wonder if it is possible to solve (with custom coding if necessary):

    1) Any assigned approver might approve. There might be a list of for example 5 approvers and if any of these approve request is started.

    2) All assigned approvers must approve.

    3) Approved in different levels. First level approver must approve then second level approver. Request is not visible to second level approver before first level approver has approved.

  • Yes, these are all possible.

The first two are very straight forward and handled with a single approval step in the workflow. For the third you could try doing two approval steps, or you could go more complicated and use Orchestrator. See the Application Approval Workflow for an example of using Orchestrator to enable highly complex approval scenarios.

    I hope that helps!

  • On the first one you must user percentage,

If you have 5 approvers for example, you must configurean approval threshold of 20%

  • Thank you. Most important for me now is to know that it is possible to do even if it might require som work. I wonder if anyone has implemented an approval scenario like this?

I setup the Review Activity with 3 approvers and set the Approval Condition to Percentage and the Approval Threshold to 33%. However, when only one of the reviewers approved the Review Activity, I found that the Review Activity status is still marked as "In Progress" instead of "Completed".

Do I need to remove the "Must Vote" flag from the other 2 reviewers to make the approval condition work as expected ?

After testing, I found that I need to remove the "Must Vote" flag from the other 2 reviewers. After that, one of the reviewers approved the Review Activity for the entry with "Must Vote" flag set to true and then save the Review Activity. The Review Activity will be marked as Completed.
