I converted some SSIS 2008 packages to use the the new Project Deployment Model. This works as expected. However, I would like to set up the environment so that the database and SSIS sit on separate servers. That way I can have the SQL Server execute a stored
procedure which configures and execute a package on the SSIS server.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any material explaining how to do this. Can any one point me in the direction of any whitepapers etc which explain how to configure a distributed environment.
Regarding the project deployment model introduced in SQL Server 2012 Integration Services, the projects must be deployed to the Integration Services server. In this way, the Integration Services server enables you to manage packages, run packages, and configure
runtime values for packages by using environments. So, the SSIS instance and the SQL Server Database engine must be on the same server currently.
