Getting the substring of CSV File and combine two different columns with a criteria RRS feed

  • Question

  • Am having a Power BI desktop, and connecting to a csv file and I want to extract substrings from the csv file and generate a  clustered column report.

    Below is the column:

    1) i need to fetch the rows in where substring == TRT

    2) i dont need to fetch the rows which contains VRT

    should i write a  dax query ? something else to get the values ?

    2) There are 2 columns called WFStatus == which has values either "" ( empty) or a string "SUCCEEDED" . 2nd column called MessageStat which has the values

    DaemonFile()  => " file is empty "

    so, i need to fetch those rows which are having both WFStatus == "SUCCEEDED"  and  MessageStat == DaemonFile()  => " file is empty"

    How to combine these two columns and add it in a clustered chart.

  • Hi there. You should be able to do all this in Power Query before loading the data. Just click "Edit Queries" and use the filter menu (to the right of the column name) or ribbon commands like Combine Columns to do what you want.
