Query and Refresh Data RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In sharepoint online, when I'm displaying Table from Excel pivot, I'm getting the below warning. Is there a workaround to disable or hide this warning. I have multiple such reports, and our client will be annoyed.

  • For SharePoint On-premises i faced the same kind of issue way back but that is not SharePoint related issue that was related to Office Online Server(OOS) where you have -ExcelWarnOnDataRefresh parameter is turned on by default for keeping safe with queries which are unsafe. so, i used below command to turn off the warning, showing up while opening excel files.

    Set-OfficeWebAppsFarm -ExcelWarnOnDataRefresh $true

Since it's a SharePoint Online i believe it has same default parameter turned on in the back-end for Office Online Server for your data refresh files. I could think of two ways one get used to with the warning, just go ahead click yes that report will open just fine, other raise a support ticket from Office 365 Admin Center and work with them because we don't handle Office Online Server for SharePoint Online.

As per below article it's still an issue in Office 365 so, i don't think we have any other way other then click on yes.

  • Hi Elangamban,

You could do following steps to troubleshooting the issue.

    1. Open Document in Microsoft Excel

    2. Data -> New Query -> Query Options -> Security -> Change Web Preview Warning Level to 'None', Privacy -> Change to 'always ignore Privacy Level settings'

If the warning persists, I suggest you open a service request with Microsoft.

    Best regards,
