How to Apply Baseline to the Project Template RRS feed

  • Hi Rohan,

Please refer to the following link:

    http://www.pmconnection.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=76

You will see at step 6 that while saving the project plan (with a baseline) as a template, you can check some options for items not to include in the template. Just unselect the first checkbox in order to include baseline in your template.

    Hope

    o this helps.

In addition to the excellent answer provided to you by Guillaume, you need to know that saving a Baseline in a project template really does not make a whole lot of sense.  Saving a Baseline is a discrete step that the project manager should do after he/she has completed planned the project and is ready to go live with the project.  So, I personally do not recommend that a Baseline be included in a project template.  Leave the project template unbaselined, and ensure that your PMs save a Baseline in their projects before they go live with their projects.  Hope this helps.

  • Once more, I'd agree with Dale. Evenif Ms Project allows you saving a project template with a baseline, it is surely not a best practice. Prior to the baseline, the project schedule must be build thus integrating a baseline to a project template does not really make sense.
